Announcement — State of the Mod Team
Hello there, neighbors!
It's hard to believe it's been almost six months since We're Still Here opened. In our time together, we've made some great memories, had a few laughs, and permanently scarred some of you from ever looking at dolls the same way again. More importantly, we learned a great deal about how to run a game with you as our captive (literally) audience. You've been there with us every step of the way — maybe some of you even from the very first interest check — and we can’t thank you enough for it.
The TL;DR: So far, we have not had any applications to join the mod team since our pause began. Due to mods' extenuating circumstances, we will have to reevaluate the game's timeline if we cannot onboard additional mods soon. Mods need not be players in the game.
From the beginning, the intent behind We're Still Here was to create a game with a unique, engaging story and a setting that offered players plenty to do during downtime between events. We want to uphold that vision and give you all a quality experience, not just an acceptable one, and definitely not a halfhearted one. However, we also pride ourselves on being honest and forthright with our players by keeping you abreast of what's going behind the scenes, not just within the game itself.
The reality is this: Although we wish to see We're Still Here's story all the way through to its projected 2022 endgame and to maintain the quality we've upheld so far, we don't have enough mods to make this feasible.
As previously stated in our February End of Month post, the mod team went from seven to four since December. As of April, we are still only a team of four. Additionally, many of us are experiencing suddenly unexpected but pressing outside affairs, changes, and other roadblocks that also require our attention. We’re all feeling the pinch, but personal affairs are currently making it even more difficult to maintain the standard of quality we wish to uphold for We’re Still Here.
We want to make this game work, but with the sheer amount of extenuating circumstances in our personal lives and the lack of available hands to take on duties needed to keep everything in ship-shape order and spread the work fairly to all, we can't see any path where that works.
We apologize for how jarring this announcement is, especially since we announced a new application cycle. We're doing our best to push through and stick to our plans, but we're seriously in need of extra help. Potentially, we will be accommodating for the vacancy of our head plot mod and founder, should they need to handle other, more pressing affairs.
As such, we're pushing the day applications open from April 20th to May 1st and will be accepting applications for mods willing to handle plot, event, and NPC work for two more weeks. If we don't receive any applications or aren't able to find suitable candidates, we will unfortunately have to reevaluate the game's projected end date and begin taking steps to begin endgame. Throughout this time, we will continue to perform the tasks needed to keep the game open, including answering all outstanding FAQ questions and event requests.
If you're interested in applying for the open positions we have, please visit this page and fill out the form for either Assistant Plot Mod or List Mod. Please feel free to distribute this link to anyone who may be interested in modding; we are not limiting this to current players and are open to bringing on mods who are not currently playing in the game.
As always, we welcome questions and feedback from our players, which you can leave below. All we ask is that questions stay respectful of the mods' wish to stay anon and maintain privacy regarding the exact nature of these situations. We know how much this game means to many of you, and are sorry this is not the announcement you want to hear. Any help from our fellow neighbors would be much appreciated and will have our gratitude.
Fondest regards,
We’re Still Here Mod Team
