Player Plot: Mapping the Boundaries
Hello friends!
Huaisang has been planning for a while to try an expedition into the forest to map the boundaries of the area, and he's brought this up with several of you IC. He's going to sound out some interest on the network and then plan some expeditions. Most specific expedition planning will be done in person (probably handwaved), and Huaisang's likely to mention these reasons why he thinks it's crucial to map the boundaries:
--The one route into town is through the southern tunnel (supposedly), and it's been closed for months now, and yet the stores are having no problem keeping goods stocked. What is the source of this food and supplies?
--Daylight discovered through his work at the postal service that there's a dead letter office where all mail is going. Nothing has come in or gone out in a while (exact period and dates unknown so far).
Given this, Huaisang thinks it's clear that we're operating inside a closed bubble, but if there are any other ways in or out, that's crucial. We're captives, shouldn't we try to escape? We need to know whether the southern tunnel is actually the only way in and out of town.
For those who are in for the expedition and want to plan mapping/hiking/scouting threads in the woods, here's the information I have from the mods:
The Woods: Oh, we're not sure who passed the rumor around that Ferthurs are more active at night - they're certainly out and about during the day :)
That said, eventually exploration of the forest might come across signs that a road has been there but fallen into disuse: branches and leaves hiding an unpaved dirt road, trees cleared but saplings starting to come back, a broken sign with long-worn paint pointing in a certain direction. There seems to have been at one point a structure deeper into the woods, closer to the granite cliffs and overlooking the lake. Other paths will lead to this impenetrable cliff edge. However, this evidence doesn't lead to a structure or place within easy day's walking distance. It'll turn night fall long before you reach any place, and camping is going to be required -
Oh yes.
Those Ferthurs are still active during the day, but they hate the bright light of your flashlights and lanterns, and will show their rage to you in any way they can.
So feel free to plot independent threads and report back your finds to Huaisang, but this post is for plotting to help deal with the major issue of how do we deal with the ferthurs, because Huaisang himself is, well... he can run fast and he's good with creating maps but that's the extent of his relevant skills for this plot. He can't go until he has a partner or partners who can help him handle the Ferthurs.
